Disruptive Opportunity
Views: 22
As the the Covid-19 restrictions are eased, life is gradually returning to normal. I pondered how Christianity is going to be like going forward, and realised it will never be the same again! My church, for example,Β announced a permanent live streamingΒ and TV ministry. Some have innovated in how to have prayer meetings, Bible studies, community fellowships, managing church traffic, mobilizing funds and many more.
Generally, we have learnt new ways to do the old things; and realized they could be equally effective.
History is replete with stories of how disruptions always lead to innovation
READ Acts 8:1-8
“At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.
Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.” (Acts 8:1-8 NKJV)
The church in Jerusalem was persecuted by Saul and they scattered; going everywhere with the word of God. Philip went to Samaria! The Jews regarded the Samaritans as polluted by intermarriages with Assyrians, and had no dealings with them(John 4:9); but Philip’s presence brought great joy to the city! Great persecution in Jerusalem; and great joy in Samaria! That is what God does. When Herod persecuted the church(Acts 12:1), the word of God spread and multiplied (Acts 12:24).
One day, it will be said, that when Covid-19 came, the word of God spread and multiplied!
As a believer, how are you riding the wave of the current disruption?
MEMORY VERSE
“But the word of God grew and multiplied.” (Acts 12:24)
QUESTIONS
1. How are you using the disruption to improve your ministry and relationship between with God?
