God’s protection in Wilderness
Views: 63
There is a very special gift that God gives us in the wilderness. It is the gift of a personal awareness of Him; and a deepening of our relationship with Him. He also uses the wilderness to expose the condition of our hearts to us so that He can heal and transform us.
In order to enable us grow in the wilderness, God does not permit any physical enemies to follow us. When Moses led the people into the wilderness the Egyptians decided to follow them but God destroyed them in the sea (Exodus 15:19).
When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen went into the sea, the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground (Exodus 15:19)
The Israelites had a chance to go forward without any reminders of the past. However, seeing the great miracle of God did not heal their hearts. Their broken hearts stopped them from drawing closer to God.
They praised God immediately after the miracle but carried on with life as if God did not exist; and had left them on their own to solve their own issues. So when they encountered the bitter water three days after the sea miracle, they reverted to complaining to Moses rather than speaking to God.
READ Exodus 15:22-25
Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah). So the people grumbled against Moses, saying,
“What are we to drink?”
Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink. There the LORD issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. (Exodus 15:22-25 NIV)
In the passage, we see that Moses was the only one who cried out to God in prayer. The rest were busy complaining. Therefore he was the only one who found the solution.
The pandemic has created wilderness in many lives; but we can choose to complain, like everyone else; or seek God in prayer for solutions to the myriads of problems. God prospers and progresses us through the wilderness experience.
If we struggle to stop complaining, let us ask God to heal our hearts; and let us actively practice gratitude and thanksgiving daily.
These will cleanse our hearts, and make them open to receive supernatural solutions from God.
MEMORY VERSE
“Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.” (Exodus 15:25)
