Do Not Get Weary

I received a very short but remarkable film, entitled “The Other Pair,” from my senior Mr. Augustine Oduro yesterday. I later read the less than 10-minute film was set in Egypt, directed by a gifted 20-year-old woman named Sarah Zorik, and won awards at the Luxor Egyptian and European Film Festivals.
The film begun with a poor boy struggling with a worn out and broken down flip-flop slippers, in a very busy train station. He retreated to a corner and sat on a brick to attend properly to his slippers. His attempts failed several times, and his exasperation was clearly shown when he slammed the slippers violently.
Just then he noticed a rich boy wearing glistening black shoes, with crisp, black-rimmed, white Adidas pair of socks to match. The rich boy, who was quickly whisked away by the father, kept pampering his shoes with a piece of paper towel. The poor boy could not also take his gaze off the glistening black shoes of the other boy; who kept wiping them with the paper towel all the while, even when they settled on a park bench nearby. He then turned to look sadly at his own, tired, and broken down slippers; but was somehow amused and smiled.
Just then, the train arrived and the father got up and called out to the boy who was still doting on his shoes! The father had to come back and tug at the boy, for him to even move! There was a small crowd at the entrance to the train at this point, and in the tussle that ensued to enter the train, the left shoe fell off the rich boy’s foot. The surging crowd made it difficult to retrieve the fallen shoe! Momentarily, the train begun to move.
The poor boy who had observed everything that happened rushed to pick the shoe, observed it briefly, and thought for a moment. He then started running after the train to give it to the rich boy, who was still at the door, with arms stretched out for his shoe! But the train, which was gradually picking up speed, was too fast for the undernourished poor boy to catch up with.
The poor boy, now panting profusely, realized he could not do much and threw the shoe, hoping it would get to the other boy; but it hit the side of the train and fell by the tracks. The poor boy was frustrated!
But then the rich boy did something remarkable! He took the other shoe off his right foot and threw it back towards the poor boy! The poor boy walked over, and took the shoe. Still confused as to what was happening, he raised his head to meet the smiling face of the rich boy who was happily waving at him, and in a way telling him, “Thank you. The shoes are now yours.”
True thoughtfulness never goes unnoticed, and is often reciprocated.
READ Galatians 6:9-10
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:9-10 NIV)
Apostle Paul has said it all in this letter to the Church in Galatia.
As we have opportunity, let us do good, and not get weary. At the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. God knows it can get burdensome, and we can get weary and want to give up. But He tells us not to give up. It might not even be appreciated, but we are doing it to God, and need not give up.
I believe you have been encouraged. Let us not become weary in doing good.
God always finds a way of honoring people with pure hearts. Let us not give up.
MEMORY VERSE
“Let us not become weary in doing good.” (Galatians 6:9)

URGENT CALL
By nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God. We ultimately face the wrath of God!
But God in His mercy and love gives us a chance to reverse this trend, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.
The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.
Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.
It is a very personal decision. No one can make for you.
If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God!
Do you want to make that decision today?
Please visit “The Believer’s Prayer” for guidance if you want to make that decision.
We will be happy to hear from you through the contact information on that page.
God richly bless you
