It is always beautiful to see people who have been together for years. It is interesting to watch them interact. They are able to predict what the other will need or ask for even before they do. They easily see when something is bothering the other and have shared so many stories and experiences that they are able to chip in and finish each other’s sentences. Often, it looks like they can read each other’s mind. I was recently telling some people that when couples live for very long, they even begin to look alike!

The same thing happens in our relationship with God, and His aim is that we spend more time with Him, know him more and begin to look more and more like Him, and conform more and more to the image of His son Jesus Christ

READ Romans 8:29

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren”

(Romans 8:29 NKJV)

Romans 8 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. It is packed with what I will call “Biblical vitamins” for victorious Christian living.
Apostle Paul hits the ground running in this chapter by saying:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)

Then talks about the flesh and spirit till verse 14 where he states:

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

Then it verse 16, he says:

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”

Then in verse 26, he writes:

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

And in verse 28 he wrote:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

The text we just read follows immediately after this popular scripture, but is not as popular. However, it has a very important message, and is telling us (believers) that God knew us before we were created, and had already made up His mind to make us become like Jesus; so that Jesus would be the first born among us.

What does this mean to the believer? It means God planned to make us become just like Christ; to think like Him, talk like Him, be compassionate like Him, pray like Him and act like Him. This is a very big ambition, but achievable if only we will invest the time into knowing God more and walking closely with Him.

It is the only way we can become more and more like Him.
Are we willing?

QUESTIONS

  • Are we desirous to be Christlike?
  • Are we willing to invest the time into knowing God like Christ did?

PRAYER TIP

Father, please help us to put
in the effort to become
more and more like You.

URGENT CALL

By nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God. We ultimately face the wrath of God!

But God in His mercy and love gives us a chance to reverse this trend, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.

The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.

Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.

It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.

If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God!

Do you want to make that decision today?

Please visit “The Believer’s Prayer”

God richly bless you.
