Another great demonstration of faith is that of Martha when her brother, Lazarus, had died. Let’s read it.
The story of Lazarus is a very popular one among Christians. But little known is the fact that this story was very significant in Jesus’ crucifixion. This particular miracle precipitated in a meeting between the Priests and the Pharisees (vv. 45-52), where they started plotting to kill Jesus (vv. 53).
Jesus was very close to the family of Mary and Martha, to the extent that some people even say, without any evidence, that He had an amorous relationship with one of the sisters! But when the sisters sent a message to Jesus that His dear friend, Lazarus, was very sick, Jesus did not treat it with any urgency, and waited for two more days. By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been buried 4 days! But when Martha met Jesus, she said something remarkable. She said,
That was all Jesus needed; faith as little as a mustard seed. Although the same Martha protested when Jesus instructed that they rolled off the stone (vv. 39), He still went ahead to raise Lazarus from the dead (vv. 43-44).
