Desperately In Need
Views: 67
I have been thinking about the recent happenings in the world, and asking myself,
“What is the single most effective solution to the problems of this world?”
Interestingly, about six decades ago — On April 23, 1962 — Karl Barth, the Swiss-German philosopher and theologian answered a question when he spoke at the Rockefeller Chapel of the University of Chicago; and his answer resonates with my answer. It was reported that, during the Q & A session, a student asked Karl Barth,
“Dr. Barth, what is the greatest truth that ever crossed your mind?”
From the account, all the seminarians present were on the edge of their seats, hoping to hear some deep, profound, great and complicated answer. But Dr. Barth slowly raised his head, looked at the student and said,
“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”
Jesus himself, while talking to some Jews that believed Him, said:
“You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
(John 8:31-32 NLT)
The top two religions of the world agree that Jesus was a messenger of God, the Messiah, born of a virgin, performing miracles, accompanied by disciples, rejected by the Jewish establishment, and being raised to heaven.
Jesus came to this world, to unite it back to God and bring us peace. He is the only solution to the turmoil. The world is desperately in need of Jesus. Everyone needs Him.
Click here if you don’t know Him yet.
The peace we need, the peace we cry for, and our desperate need to love one another; depends on Him.
MEMORY VERSE
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
(John 8:32 )
