Living Peace

I still remember the first time we met. Your round frame signature eyeglasses I cannot forget. The lenses amplified your very affable and welcoming eyes. You were generally shy, but you had a lot in your heart to share, and share you did when the environment was right.
You were one of the young ones in our group, which was not hidden by your frame. My longtime pal took to you immediately, I guess due to the similarities you shared. You were both so young; so young we could almost say you were vulnerable. My pal was charismatic, and whisked you into our clique, and we loved you.
Typical of the unique way our people give names, you were given the abstract noun, “Peace,” as your name. Whoever gave you that name must have been a seer, for it matched your disposition in every way. You were the epitome of peace; till death, you were. The account of how you slipped away peacefully while the world slumbered, tells that you were “Peace,” even till the end.
I know you had some health challenges, but I also know you lived life to the fullest notwithstanding. The news hit me like thunderbolt, especially coming less than a month after another mate, Abass, had passed. You were due for surgery, but that never was. Life has a way of dribbling all of us. But who are we, mere mortals and finite humans, to complain?
Peace, you’ve fought the good fight, you finished your race, and you kept your faith. I believe you are resting from your toils in the bosom of the Lord, as we commemorate your “One Week” tomorrow.
To all who live, and who are grieving — especially my OMSU 91/93 colleagues — the Bible tells us not to grieve like people who have no hope. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, we are told:
This is the heritage of those who die in Christ; those who believe. For those who are yet to believe, please click here for guidance. This is a good time to make that decision.
Let us encourage one another with these words.
MEMORY VERSE
QUESTIONS
Is the loss of a friend, relative, or loved one heavy on your heart?
Dou you know that if they died in Christ, then we will meet again, and be with the Lord forever?
PRAYER TIP
Father, please help us in our grief, so that we don't grieve like people who have no hope; because those who died in You only transition from here to You. We are eternally grateful. In Jesus' name.
URGENT CALL
Every soul is valuable to God, far more than the entire world! But by nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God, and we ultimately face his wrath!
God in His mercy and love made a way for us to remedy this. He gives us a chance to reverse this downward spiral to destruction, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.
The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.
Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.
It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.
If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God! A soul, much, much more valuable than the world, has been saved from destruction!
Do you want to make that decision today?
Please visit “The Believer’s Prayer” for guidance if you want to make that decision.
