Would You Stand?

Then when daylight came, the assembly of the elders of the people, which included both chief priests and scribes, met and marched him off to their own council. There they asked him,
“If you really are Christ, tell us!”“If I tell you, you will never believe me, and if I ask you a question, you will not answer me. But from now on the Son of Man will take his seat at the right hand of almighty God.”
Then they all said,
“So you are the Son of God then?” “You are right; I am,” Jesus told them. Then they said,
“Why do we need to call any more witnesses, for we ourselves have heard this thing from his own lips?”
(Luke 22:66-71 PHILLIPS)
The day started on a very high note for Jesus. He was asked if he was really the Christ. Initially, he said they would not believe Him if He answered them. But when asked,
“So you are the Son of God then?”
He said,
“You are right; I am.”
Later, when tortured, even to the point of death, Jesus did not change His narrative. He died holding on to the fact that He is the Son of God.
Torture has been used throughout history to obtain information during interrogations. Torture, although widely illegal and a violation of human rights and international law, has been frequently cited as generating false or misleading information, and lacks scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness. This is because, most people would tell you what you want to hear, so they would be spared the agony and pain of torture.
All the way to the cross, Jesus never changed His claim (Luke 23:1-49).
He endured it, because that is the truth.
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?
Do you stand by this belief irrespective of threats to your job, livelihood, friendships, acceptance, and how you are perceived?
Would you stand with Jesus when He says,
“You are right; I am the Son of God?”

TODAY IN HISTORY
After Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, events were recorded for each day leading to His death and resurrection. The week is referred to as Passion Week, or Holy Week.
In “Today in History” we go on that journey with Jesus, stating what happened on each day, and the scriptural references.
Please come on the journey with us.

- Was Tried, Crucified, Died and was Buried ( Matthew 27:1-66, Mark 15:1-47, Luke 22:63 – 23:56, and John 18:28 – 19:42 )
