Father, not that I am worthy, yet you notice me.

Not that I am holy, yet you adore me.

You shower me with love, and overwhelm me with mercy and grace.

You call me your special treasure, not because of anything I have done.

You call me your precious one, because of everything You are.”

I wrote this poem after reading Our Daily Bread devotional of November 25, 2019 in which writer, John Blaze, intricately drew me into an understanding of how precious I am to God.

The word often used for “precious”, or “treasure”, in the Hebrew language is “segulah”; and believed to be the word used in Exodus 19:5, Deut 7:6 and Psalm 135:4, and target at the Israelites. This is what the texts said,

Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me.  (Exodus 19:5 NLT)

For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure. (Deuteronomy 7:6 NLT)

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself,  Israel for his own special treasure. (Psalm 135:4 NLT)

In his letter to the church in Colossae, Paul wrote:

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,   for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” (Colossians 1:15-22  NLT)

This is how we, who are not Israelites by birth, also  came to be precious treasures of God; through Jesus the Christ. Through Him God reconciled all things in heaven and on earth, with himself.

We just don’t exist. We are precious treasures, bought with a precious blood. We were unworthy, but became worthy; through the precious blood of Christ.

As God’s treasure, He keeps His eyes on us. 1 John 3:1 says,

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

MEMORY VERSE

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

(1 John 3:1)

QUESTIONS

  •      Do you feel God has forgotten and forsaken you?
  •      Do you know that the price that was paid for you is so high that it is impossible for you to be forgotten?

PRAYER TIP

Merciful Father, please help me
to always remember I am precious
in Your eyes, even when events around
me are threatening. In Jesus' name.

URGENT CALL

Every soul is valuable to God, far more than the entire world! But by nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God, and we ultimately face his wrath!

God in His mercy and love made a way for us to remedy this. He gives us a chance to reverse this downward spiral to destruction, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.

The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.

Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.

It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.

If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God! A soul, much, much more valuable than the world, has been saved from destruction!

Do you want to make that decision today?

Please visit “The Believer’s Prayer
for guidance if you want
to make that decision.

We will be happy to hear from you through the contact information on that page, or the ones at the top of this page. Don’t delay. Make this very personal decision today!

God richly bless you
