Words are very powerful. Words give expression to what we are thinking. They sometimes replace what we would have done. They can be a reflection of who we are.

Words can be used describe relationships with people we never met, describe emotions and actions we never witnessed, and give clarity to things we would never have understood.

When someone narrates something that happened, the person takes you on a trip into the past, using words. Words are used to describe what is happening right now. And when a person tells you their plans, they are taking you on a trip into the future, using words. Words encompass the three dimensions of time: the past, the present and the future.

We use words to provide relief and comfort, but the same words can be used to cause discomfort and pain. Words, and actions instigated by words, caused some to lose their lives, their freedoms, their livelihoods, their friends, their families, their relationships, and even their souls!

Jesus’ birth was foretold using words, and announced using words. He called his disciples using words, delivered His sermons using words, healed many using just words, cast out demons using words, rebuked using words, corrected using words, taught His disciples using words, and was nearly stoned because of His words!

He faced the tempter using words, forgave sins using words, prayed to the Father using words, and foretold the future using words! Even when Jesus decided not to speak, before Pontius Pilate, words were the focus.

There are three things we can use words for: use or withhold them to build, use or withhold them to destroy, or use or withhold them to retain and sustain.

I conclude by quoting four statements Jesus made about words

But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. (Matthew 15:18)

The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.
(Matthew 12:37)

And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.
(Matthew 12:36)

The very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
( John 6:63)

MEMORY VERSE

The very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
( John 6:63)

URGENT CALL

Every soul is valuable to God, far more than the entire world! But by nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God, and we ultimately face his wrath!

God in His mercy and love made a way for us to remedy this. He gives us a chance to reverse this downward spiral to destruction, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.

The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.

Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.

It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.

If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God! A soul, much, much more valuable than the world, has been saved from destruction!

Do you want to make that decision today?
