Freedom In The Truth

The biggest difference between money and time is,
“You always know how much money you have, but you never know how much time you have.”
This quote, attributed to “Women Working”, a career women’s support network founded by Helene Lerner, was graciously shared by one of my seniors recently on a platform, and speaks volumes.
When I find my immediate family becoming too dependent on me, I often ask them,
“What would you have done if I were not here?” and often add, “I can go anytime!”
Β They don’t like hearing that at all, and I am often met with rebukes and scolding! But that is the truth. We have a definite lease on this earth, with an undefined lease expiry. Those who remind themselves of this highly avoided but inevitable truth, apply their time to the things that ultimately matter, and live their lives paying more attention to the things that matter in the final analysis! Interestingly, they have less stress, are more at peace with themselves, and avoid the rat-race of fame, wealth and power. They embrace death as being part of life, and live more fulfilling lives! Β
READ John 8:31-36
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’
They answered Him, ‘We are Abrahamβs descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, “You will be made free”?’
Jesus answered them, βMost assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:31-36)
Jesus told the Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’
One of the truths Jesus wants us to know is this:
“As it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.“ (Hebrew 9:27-28)
In other words, the offering of Jesus Christ to die for our sins is the greatest reminder that we will die one day, and after that we will be judged!
The entire chapter of Matthew 25 is dedicated to Jesus’ parables about being prepared(“The Parable of the Ten Virgins”), rendering of accounts for our stewardship(“The Parable of the Talents”); and the ultimate judgment!
We can deny the truth, but we cannot avoid it. We need to be prepared.
MEMORY VERSE
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
QUESTIONS
1. Have you been avoiding some inevitable truths about life?
2. Do you know that embracing these truths, and living by them, makes you free?
PRAYER TIP
Almighty Father, please help us to embrace the inevitable truths of life, so that we will apply our hearts unto wisdom; and also be free.

AUGUSTINE
Truth brings liberty to all who strive for it and live by it.
Unfortunately however , those who live in ignorance or reject the truth suffer pestilence and tribulation. For believers our Truth is our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him alone do we have freedom and deliverance. When we turn our backs to the “Lie”(Satan) and look up to the “Truth”(Jesus), we shall continue to be “overcomers” and ” winners” in all circumstances and Heaven will be our inheritance.

So true we have a way to measure our money but never our time.
