It started as a rumour. So, a friend called and said he heard Doc., is dead. He then told me, he would confirm it and get back to me. Then another friend sent me his picture, with the question,

 “Is this Doc.?”

“Yes oooo…our man…we are all hearing rumours…,” I replied.

The first friend later called to confirm it. Doc., is gone! It took out one brilliant banker too. He  was one year my junior in school. Both men were remarkable achievers in their fields of endeavor. Both gone! Casualties of Covid-19.

Africa has not been hit by Covid-19 the way it was predicted, but it is being hit! While it is taking people out in the developed world like a bomb; here, it is taking people out one-by-one, like a sniper on rampage! So the question I ask this morning is,

“Who next?”

Just as I am shocked at these recent deaths, I am convinced these two were also shocked when they heard that others had died. No one told them they would also follow within few months, but we are there now.

In my opinion, we have two remedies in face of Covid-19:

First is to protect our bodies, by  following all the directives from the experts.

Second, and most important, is to protect our souls from eternal destruction by committing them to Christ through our belief in Him as the Son God sent to redeem us; and in His death on the cross to fulfill that purpose.

The first provides temporal security, but the second provides both temporal and eternal security.

What is playing out in Covid-19 has, unfortunately, always been there: People have always died. Covid-19 is bringing this age-old phenomenon into sharp focus, by the Covid-19 related deaths, making it seem a novelty. Psalm 90:10 says,

“Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.”

It all ends some day. But the good news is, “Our lives can be hidden and preserved, in Christ.”

So, there is hope, as shared in the last two devotionals.

But we need to choose the path of hope. Will you?

MEMORY VERSE

“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
(Colossians 3:3)

QUESTIONS

  •      Do you despair because of covid-19?
  •      Do you know that, in Christ you have absolutely nothing to fear?

PRAYER TIP

Father, please hide my life in You.

URGENT CALL

Every soul is valuable to God, far more than the entire world! But by nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God, and we ultimately face his wrath!

God in His mercy and love made a way for us to remedy this. He gives us a chance to reverse this downward spiral to destruction, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.

The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.

Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.

It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.

If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God! A soul, much, much more valuable than the world, has been saved from destruction!

Do you want to make that decision today?

Please visit “The Believer’s Prayer”
for guidance if you want
to make that decision.

We will be happy to hear from you through the contact information on that page, or the ones at the top of this page. Don’t delay. Make this very personal decision today!

God richly bless you
