The Ultimate

There was a man who was born into royalty, and was most honourable among all his brothers. But his mother really suffered when giving birth to him; and had more pain than usual in childbirth! The mother, knowing they give symbolic names in their culture, named him, “he causes pain!” These words from his mother haunted him; and he caused a lot of trouble and pain, and suffered his fair share of trouble and pain too.
In desperation, he prayed to god saying,
“Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!”
God heard his prayer. And from that day his destiny changed. God blessed him and took all trouble and pain from him.
The story above was the story of a young man called Jabez, and the account is in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.
In the past two submissions, we talked about “Words” and the “Creative Force of “Words;” and we outlined how words can be used to create both good and bad; to build, and to destroy.
Due to our experiences and imperfections, we succeed in using words in negative ways, thus hurting, bruising and destroying ourselves and one another; even people that are dear to us!
The story of Jabez is a story of a mother who hurt her son with her words. But the son called on the “Ultimate Word,” the Word of God almighty.
When God spoke, His Word overruled what Jabez’s mother spoke! God’s words are the ultimate words.
What reckless words have you heard today? What has someone said to you that makes you sad? Has someone dear to you pierced your heart with his or her words?
Just like Jabez, you can pray to God, and nullify every undesirable thing spoken into your life.
What God says is the ultimate. What is God saying about you? That is all that matters, if all others fail!
MEMORY VERSE

- Do you know that God’s “word” is the ultimate, and can overrule any other word? Pray to Him today.

Every soul is valuable to God, far more than the entire world! But by nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God, and we ultimately face his wrath!
God in His mercy and love made a way for us to remedy this. He gives us a chance to reverse this downward spiral to destruction, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.
The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.
Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.
It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.
If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God! A soul, much, much more valuable than the world, has been saved from destruction!
