Creative Force of “Words”

The story was told of a man who heard his neighbour weeping. He went to her door and knocked. But she shouted,
“Get away from me. I don’t want to talk to anyone!”
So he went back to his apartment. But the weeping continued, so he came back again, knocked and said,
“Whatever it is, just talk to me.”
But she replied again and said,
“I say go away from me. I don’t want to talk to anyone.”
This time round, the man did not leave. He sat at the door, and started talking to her starting with,
“Whatever is bothering you, know that it’ll pass and you’d be OK…..”
As he spoke, the weeping subsided, and later stopped completely. Later, the woman confessed she was going through a really bad patch, and didn’t know what she would have done to herself but for the man’s intervention! She never allowed him in, nor saw his face; but his words soothed and comforted her, and saved a potentially bad situation.
When you tell someone, “I’ll hit you,” what you’ve done is to convey your action with words. When you tell someone, “I hate A or B,” you are using words to show who you are. When someone says, “Don’t you know him? He is tall and witty,” the person is using words create a picture of someone, and when someone says, “I loved him/her,” the person is using words to show the feelings about the other person.
When someone says,
“I visited Boti Falls last month, and it’s a beautiful place: lush vegetation, crystal clear water, and a beautiful rainbow,”
the person is using words to take you on a trip into the past. When you say, “I feel good,” you are using words to convey your emotions and when you say, “I will own my first home by age 30,” you are using word to take someone on a trip into your future.
The one who talked about “hitting” would probably hit if the irritation persists; the one who talked about “hatred” would probably manifest it through betrayal! It is possible that the one who talked about owning a home by age 30 actually gets to own his first home at 29!
Words have a spirit of their own, and a life of their own. Words create things, and make things happen. When someone says, “I love you,” it immediately creates feelings. These feelings can lead to actions such as marriage!
This creative force of words is a gift God gave us. In the creation story of Genesis 1, God used words to make many things happen. Being created in His image and likeness means we also have the power of words!
May we choose our words, because they make things happen.

URGENT CALL
Every soul is valuable to God, far more than the entire world! But by nature, we are all sinful, and alienated from God, and we ultimately face his wrath!
God in His mercy and love made a way for us to remedy this. He gives us a chance to reverse this downward spiral to destruction, join His family, be part of His household, and become His children.
The first step to becoming a member of God’s household is for us to be saved.
Salvation comes through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Personal Savior.
It is a very personal decision. No one can make that decision for you.
If you make that decision today, there will be great singing and rejoicing in heaven; because one new member has joined the family and household of God! A soul, much, much more valuable than the world, has been saved from destruction!
Do you want to make that decision today?
