The word “catharsis” is defined by Oxford Languages as
“The process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions.”
The interesting thing about “catharsis” is that it is achieved purely through conversation; through the use of words. It makes a big difference by relieving emotional illness, which sometimes lead to and manifests itself in physical and psychological illnesses. Words are powerful.
On his one-twentieth birthday, when Moses knew his time was getting near, he called Israel together and spoke these words,
These “words” of Moses in this address were enough to dispel the fears of Israel, and clear uncertainties of what was ahead of them. It gave them new strength, and a better view of the future. May they dispel all your fears and anxieties; and may they provide a fresh outlook on life, seen through God’s own eyes; an outlook of only possibilities, because God goes before us; in the name of the Father, and His Son Jesus Christ whom He sent to come and die for us, and the Holy Spirit our comforter, helper and counsellor.
Amen
